ZAPP Community Outreach Intern
Zine Archive and Publishing Project (ZAPP) is currently seeking a community outreach intern for a six to nine month internship at Richard Hugo House. Under supervision of the library manager, the community outreach intern will coordinate classes and special events at the zine library, help orient and train new volunteers and create a welcoming space for archives visitors during its open hours. The intern will be expected to attend monthly ZAPP committee meetings and take notes on its discussions. Also, the intern will be expected to engage in necessary activities for the running of ZAPP events, such as facilitating communication between Hugo House and ZAPP staff, contacting interested individuals and/or organizations and making sure that necessary materials are assembled.
DURATION, APPROXIMATE HOURS AND NEXT START DATE
• Duration: six to nine months
• Approximate hours: 10-15 hours, 3-5 days a week, including some evenings and Saturdays. Additional hours may be requested, subject to the intern’s availability.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Coordinating community outreach for ZAPP events;
• Reception during ZAPP open hours;
• Training volunteers;
• Giving tours of the archives and educating visitors about the collection;
• Taking and distributing notes on ZAPP committee meetings;
• Preparing and aiding classes at ZAPP;
• Documenting ZAPP events (attendance, contact info, materials used, etc.);
• Participating in ZAPP special projects.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Love of zines and zine communities;
• Creative mindset;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to keep in prompt contact with the library manager, other ZAPP staff and other relevant parties via email and phone;
• Flexibility and openness to new projects;
• Ability to work with groups and independently;
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple open ended projects.
